Now that you’ve filed for office!

Candidates running in the May 2020 Election,

Congratulations on filing your candidacy to run in the May 2020 Primary Election. I know this is a big step and that you are very busy with your campaign.

We may have met and discussed the resources and support the Multnomah County Democratic (MCD) Party offers candidates. If not I want to introduce myself to you and invite you to some upcoming events you will want to participate in. I am Jenny Martinez, Chair of the Multnomah County Democratic Party Campaign and Candidate Liaison Committee. Our goal is to help Democrats get elected to office in Multnomah County.

As a Democrat running for office, we want you to know about the candidate opportunities:

Attend a Central Committee Meeting

Introduce Yourself and YOUR candidacy to some of the most Politically Active PCPs in Multnomah County at the monthly Central Committee meeting

  • Opportunity to reach out to PCPs and recruit volunteers for your campaign

    • Bring a method to sign up volunteers!

  • Attend Multnomah County Democrats Central Committee meetings

    • Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 7:00 pm

    • 2nd Thursday of January, February, March, April and May 2020

  • Hollywood Senior Center at 1820 NE 40th Ave, Portland, OR 97212

  • Each candidate is allotted 3-10 minutes depending on the number of candidates that sign up

  • Please reply to this email to let me know that you will be attending and we will give you time on the agenda starting at 7 pm

Coffee with Candidates

Members of the Campaign Committee would enjoy meeting with you to discuss your campaign and our resource offerings.

Read the Multnomah County Democratic Party Platform

  • Once the 2020 MCD Platform is finalized we are:

    • Offering candidates a unique opportunity to share their alignment, values, ideas, and actions on selected MCD Party Platform Planks and Legislative Actions

    • Candidates will fill out the questionnaire and MCD will post your response on the Candidate webpage


Drop off Your Campaign Materials to MCD HQ

Get your literature in the hands of the local party and promote your campaign by dropping off your campaign flyers and signs at Mult. Dems HQ at 3551 NE Sandy Blvd.

Participate in Candidate Forums

  • We are working with MCD District Leaders and Assistant District Leaders to develop forums in their House District


VAN Access for local candidates

Get access to the Voter file in your county. This will allow you to create maps for canvassing so you can connect with voters face to face.

  • Provides access to state voters records including

    • Phone numbers, voting history, address

  • Use VAN to target and improve your voter contacts to get to your WIN number
