Portland City Council, Position 2
My name is Jeff Lang and I am asking for your vote on May 19 for Portland City Council position #2. I am running because I believe that my decades of experience as a socially responsible business owner is a perspective that is currently lacking on the city council.
I am seeking your support because the platform of the Multnomah County Democratic Party is closely aligned with my values.
I am a first-generation American born in San Francisco to German refugees. After graduating from UC Berkley and working as a risk management and insurance apprentice at Lloyd’s of London, I started Gales Creek insurance Services (GCIS) from my basement in SE Portland. GCIS specializes in providing innovative insurance service for battered women’s shelters, nonprofit groups, trade associations, and the entertainment industry, including acts like the Grateful Dead, Santana, the Oregon Country Fair, and Yul Brenner. GCIS is licensed and has resident agents selling insurance in 47 states and the District of Columbia.
I also strongly believe in giving back to the community. Over the years, I’ve created, funded, and served on the board of several nonprofits, including the Community Energy Project and Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon (MESO), which offers innovative lending and savings programs, technical assistance, and other services to underserved communities across nine urban and rural counties.
It would be an honor to continue the legacy of Nick Fish, who loved Portland and was passionate about making the city a better place. I vow to represent the City of Portland with the same level of integrity, maturity, compassion, and commitment.
